Tech Prep Partnership
Tech Prep is a program of study, which begins in high school, continues at a post-secondary institution and culminates with an associate of applied science degree, two-year certificate or two-year apprenticeship. The Lincoln Land Tech Prep Partnership is a collaborative effort between education and business to achieve these goals. Tech Prep provides:
- career pathways for high school students in many occupational areas;
- proficiency credit at the community college for Tech Prep articulated courses;
- innovative and practical ways of delivering school-based learning, work-based learning, and transitional services; and
- advanced technical, academic, and workplace skills required for successful employment in technical occupations and lifelong learning.
Tech Prep gives students direction and purpose to their studies in high school and yet allows the flexibility to change career paths if necessary. Students who have followed the Tech Prep sequence of courses during high school may have earned proficiency credit that gives them a ' jump start' on their college education.
High school students throughout the Lincoln Land Community College district can participate in the Tech Prep Program. High school guidance counselors, advisors and the LLCC Tech Prep Coordinator, 217.786.2583 or 800.727.4161, ext. 62583, have information on this partnership.
