This cultural anthropology course involves the intensive analysis of selected non-Western ("primitive") peoples and their societies. Aspects of both material and nonmaterial culture to receive special emphasis include lifestyle and population origins, social institutions, language, life-cycle beliefs and behaviors and Western influence.
