CAD 221 Mechanical Drafting/Design I 3 credits

This course provides experience with design and sketching of orthographic and pictorial drawings. Students will learn fundamental concepts and techniques for producing mechanical drawings by utilizing computer aided drafting methods on modern microcomputer workstations. Topics covered include the interpretation of detail and assembly drawings, auxiliary views, sections, dimensions and tolerances, list of materials, notes, drawing change systems, threads, call-outs for machine processes, positional and form tolerance, gears, splines and NC documents. (2 lecture hours and 2 laboratory hours)
