COM 098 Basic English 4 credits

This course provides instruction in basic sentence parts, correct usage, punctuation, mechanics and spelling. Writing of complete and correct sentences containing coordinated and subordinated elements is stressed through guided sentence practice. Writing skills are developed through extensive practice of free-writing exercises, journal keeping and the writing of descriptive, narrative and example paragraphs. This course is for students who need instruction in the fundamentals of English. It is not designed for transfer credit, nor will credit be given toward an associate degree. (4 lecture hours)
