ITP 226 American Sign Language IV 3 credits

This course focuses on the maximum comprehension of American Sign Language, deaf culture and the deaf community. Classroom activities are conducted largely without voice. Visual learning and cultural appropriateness are stressed. A variety of instructional methods is used to focus on the functions of everyday language and includes the use of a variety of registers in ASL. The development of conversational skills is at the maximum through interactive contexts. (3 lecture hours)
