LIT 201 Survey of English Literature: Anglo-Saxon through the Neoclassical Age 3 credits

This course is the first semester of a two-semester chronological survey of English literature from the Anglo-Saxon period to modern time. Emphasized are the artistic value of literature and an understanding of the swing of the literary pendulum as a reflection of the times, revealing the relation of literature to life. This course surveys the Anglo-Saxon Period, Middle English Period, the Renaissance, the 17th century and the Neoclassical Age. R (3 lecture hours) IAI: H3 912; EGL 913
