SPE 110 Applied Forensics 1-2 credits

This course is designed to provide practical experience in the field of speech communication through the competitive speech program, Forensics. Emphasis is placed upon the research, development and performance of collegiate competitive events such as informative speaking, persuasive speaking, impromptu speaking, extemporaneous speaking, communication analysis, after-dinner speaking, prose interpretation, poetry interpretation, program oral interpretation, drama interpretation, duo interpretation and Lincoln-Douglas debate. Students are required to participate in weekly coaching sessions and in speech tournaments. Credit is determined in consultation with the director of Forensics. Heavier responsibilities have to be assumed to earn two credits rather than one credit. May be repeated for maximum of four semester hours. R (2 lecture hours)
