AHH 100 Care and Understanding of the Alzheimer Patient .5 credit

This course is designed for nursing and other health care personnel who have limited background in caring for persons with Alzheimer disease. It is also intended for the in-home caregiver. Content includes definition, causes and signs and symptoms. The difference between normal aging and Alzheimer disease is addressed. Home care of the patient, dealing with behavioral problems, communication with family, coping measures for the caregiver and family and current research are addressed. (1/2 class hour per week)
