JRN 102 Advanced Newswriting 3 credits
This is a continuation of JRN 101. It advances the theories and practices set forth in Beginning Newswriting. News is examined in terms of its channels and audiences. News gathering practices and problems receive emphasis here as well as extension of the principles of newswriting. Handling of important assignments such as personalities, police and courts, government, finance, agriculture, religion and science is covered. R, W2 (3 lecture hours)
Prerequisite: JRN 101 or equivalent
