ESL 080 Beginning Writing for Citizenship .5-4 credits

This is a beginning course in English as a Second Language reading and writing skills intended for those students with very little background in English literacy. Students first will learn directionality involved in writing the alphabet and progress to writing and recognizing English words. The content used to practice English emphasizes the information and skills needed to prepare for the INS (Immigration and Naturalization Service) citizenship test. Prerequisite: Students needs a BEST (Basic English Skills Test) Literacy score no higher than 21 points or permission of the teacher to enter this class.
