CHI 101 Elementary Chinese I 4 credits
The first course in a four-course sequence that develops understanding, speaking, reading and writing of the Chinese language. This course is intended for students who have little or no knowledge of Chinese. In addition to a strong emphasis on oral communication, the course acquaints students with the culture and contemporary life in the countries where Chinese is spoken. Correct pronunciation is necessary for comprehension and is stressed. R, W1 (3 lecture hours and 2 laboratory hours)
