MCS 219 ICD-9-CM Coding I 3 credits
This course introduces students to ICD-9-CM coding and documentation. Students become proficient in interpreting the physician's written documentation and converting said documentation to diagnosis codes and ICD-9-CM inpatient procedures. Students learn the guidelines for coding infectious disease, neoplasms, endocrine, mental and nervous system diseases. R, 12 (3 lecture hours)
Prerequisite: MCS 125 with a minimum grade of C
Corequisite: MCS 213
