SOC 211 Social-Psychology 3 credits

The study of social psychology is based upon the exploration of social behavior using the scientific method. It is concerned with connections between group experience and the psychology of the individual. The course gives students an opportunity to gain an understanding of important social-psychological theories and to develop some knowledge of the methods used to test these theories. To aid students in understanding the influence of the group on individual behavior and personality, the course emphasizes the study of social roles, the emergence of personality in social interaction, the analysis of attitudes, investigation of small groups and the study of group structure and process.
