SPA 101 Elementary Spanish I 4 credits
This is the first course in a four-course sequence that develops understanding, speaking, reading and writing of the Spanish language. This course is intended for students who have little or no previous instruction in Spanish. In addition to a strong emphasis on oral communication, the course acquaints students with the culture and contemporary life in the countries where Spanish is spoken. Also stressed is grammar as the foundation of sentence structure, verb conjugation and idioms. Correct pronunciation is necessary for comprehension and is stressed.
