EMS 218 EMS Lead Instructor 3 credits

The EMS Lead Instructor course is open to EMS professionals meeting the requirements of the Illinois Administrative Code (77 Ill. Admin. Code 515, Section 700), pursuant to the Illinois Emergency Medical Services Act (210 ILCS 50). Students receive instruction in roles and responsibilities, learning styles, learning domains, evaluation techniques and legal issues, among others, in relation to the education of adult learners. The course is taught to the standards of the US DOT/NHTSA's National Guidelines for Educating EMS Instructors (2002). 12 (3 lecture hours)

Prerequisite: A current license as an EMT-B, EMT-I, EMT-P, RN or physician; a minimum of four years of experience in pre-hospital emergency care; and at least two years of documented teaching experience.
