CNC 165 Network Defense and Countermeasures 3 credits
This course introduces the fundamentals of defending networks, such as the layered defense and defense in-depth strategies. The course addresses design and implementation of firewalls, including Checkpoint Firewall-1, Microsoft ISA Server and Linux IPChains. VPNs and design and implementation of Intrusion Detection Systems are discussed. The course wraps up with a look at Risk Analysis and Security Policies. (2 lecture hours and 2 laboratory hours)
Note: CNC 160 and CNC 165 prepare students for the SCNP certificate
