Program Information:
- This program is designed for students interested in becoming registered nurses.
- Students who complete the program are eligible to sit for the exam of the State Board for Registration in Illinois as a registered nurse.
- Career Cluster includes registered professional nurse (R.N.) in acute care hospital, medical clinic, mental health facility, nursing home, school, industry and community health agency.
- All nursing students must earn a C or higher in all nursing courses. Students who fail to achieve a C in a nursing course may repeat the course one time. If they fail to earn a C or above on the second attempt, they will be dismissed from the program. Failure to earn a C in a second nursing course, even though the first course may have been successfully repeated is also grounds for dismissal. Only one re-admission is allowed.
- HLT 205, HLT 206, BIO 220 and PSY 220 must be successfully completed with a grade of C or better. If a C is not earned the course must be retaken.
- This applied science program of study must be taken in its entirety to meet degree requirements.
- This course is conducted on a limited-enrollment basis. Admission to this program involves additional procedures.
- This program has been articulated with Kaplan University, MacMurray College, Methodist College of Nursing and Millikin University as a 2 + 2 program if taken in its entirety.

Admission to the Program:
- Submit the LLCC admission application.
- Be a high school graduate or have a GED certificate.
- Have a composite score ACT of 21 or higher, or ACT of 19 to 20 with 24 college hours that includes one science course, one communication course and one social science course. (The science course can be a college chemistry course). Must earn a C or better in the courses. ACT requirement needs to be met prior to filling out an application for admission to the nursing program.
- Complete CHE 100 or CHE 101 with a grade of C or better within the last five years (or one year of high school chemistry with a C or better and not longer than five years ago).
- Complete MAT 092 with a grade of C or better within the last five years (or one year of high school algebra with a grade of C or better) and not longer than five years ago, or demonstrate MAT 092 on placement test.
- Be a currently Certified Nursing Assistant.
- Submit the nursing ppplication.
- Have a GPA of 2.0 or higher for all previous college courses.
- Give evidence of satisfactory physical and emotional health required of nurses to carry out the tasks of this occupation.
- Anatomy and Physiology courses and Microbiology must have been taken within the last 10 years.
